Joshua Phelps, 26 years old, lives in Georgia, USA.
Josh played football on the Sunshine Coast growing up, moved to the US on a scholarship. First 2yrs attended Thomas College where Phelps received the Rookie of the Year award along with All-Tournament and All-Conference teams each year. Josh than transferred to the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where he captained the side again earning All-conference awards.
This is Josh's 3rd year at Tormenta FC, again captaining the side in as many years. In the 2018 season Phelps led Tormenta FC to an undefeated conference championship.
Josh was not only Tormenta FC’s first professional signing but also the first ever player to sign in the history of the USL League One.
Sophie McCulloch, 20 years old, lives on the Sunshine Coast and has been infatuated with surfing from a very young age.
Sophie surfs twice to three times a day, every day, She trains hard and is committed to taking the sport she loves to a professional level. Sophie's training for surfing involves a vast variety of strength and conditioning movements at the Ocean Performance Centre, as well as competition, technique and innovation critique out in the surf.
Sophie is a part time university student, studying a Bachelor of Marketing and Biomedical Science, while full time qualifying series (QS) surfer, She is currently ranked inside the top 20 on the World Surf League QS.
With the love and support of her family, coaches, and sponsors, combined with a daily Bare Coffee (maybe 2 or 3), Sophie is ready to embrace the opportunity to challenge the worlds best and pursue her dream of a professional surfing career.
Stuart Knox, 46 years old has been in love with the ocean for as long as he can remember. Growing up on the beaches of Coffs Harbour he competed regularly at a national level, bodyboarding up and down the east coast of Australia.
Life has it’s twists and turns and now Stu runs a successful wine bar in Sydney, judges national and region wines shows and contributes to variety of wine consumer and trade publications. None of this is possible without a good dose of caffeine from Bar, to keep him fuelled and focussed day and night.
With all those other distractions his love of the ocean has still remained strong and he has re-entered the competitive seen as an elder statesman. Thriving on the opportunity to compete against both his age division and much younger competitors, applying life experience to give him an edge in the competitive arena and mentor the younger generation coming through. With a shot or 2 of Bare Cold Pressed Coffee when the mind is willing but the body doubtful.
